Wild Rice Stuffing
Wild rice adds texture and flavour to this delicious stuffing recipe. Whether you stuff a turkey or serve the dressing on the side, your guests will love this recipe.Ingredients
- 2 small white onions, finely minced
- 2 carrots, finely diced
- 2 stalks celery, finely diced
- 4 Tbsp butter
- Sprig of fresh thyme
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 cups wild rice
- 3½ cups boiling water or chicken stock
- Flaked salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Method
- To make the stuffing, sauté the vegetables in the butter for 10 minutes.
- Add the herbs, the wild rice, and the water or stock.
- Cover and cook for approximately 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to avoid sticking.
- Season to taste with salt and pepper.
- When rice is cooked, drain off any liquid and fluff with a fork.
- Cool before stuffing.
