How to Pit Stone Fruit

Many recipes will require you to remove the pit or stone of fruit before using it.
 
Do this by first cutting the fruit in half, then gently ease the two halves apart by twisting each in the opposite direction.

Then, using the point of a paring knife, ease in and underneath the pit and remove it.
