Basic Barbecue Sauce

Barbecue sauce (also abbreviated BBQ sauce) is a liquid flavouring sauce or condiment. As the name implies, it was created as an accompaniment to barbecued foods. While it can be applied to any food, it usually garnishes meat after cooking or during barbecuing, grilling, or baking.

Ingredients

Method

  1. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the onion and garlic until translucent.
  2. Add the chilli powder and continue frying gently for a few minutes.
  3. Remove the pan from the heat and add the flour, mixing to a smooth paste.
  4. Add the tomato paste, honey, vinegar, and mustard, and thoroughly mix in.
  5. Add the stock and mix through.
  6. Simmer for 10-15 mins and add the Worcester sauce.
  7. Season with salt, to taste.
